The new release of Protect Folder is here! Loaded with many new features, bug fixes and a brand new design!

If you’re here for the first time, Protect Folder is a free software to lock and block your folders access with or without password. This will avoid curious people from accessing your private folders. Use it to block your videos, images, documents or any other content from curious eyes!

Protect Folder integrates into the folders context menu in order to quickly help you locking/protect and unlocking/unprotect folders!

This Protect Folder version brings a new feature so long awaited by all Protect Folder users, the possibility to recover your lost passwords!

Now you just need to enter a recover email address and if you forget your password you’ll be able to recover it using your email address.

Protect Folder 3.0

Protect Folder v3 is free of charge, however, it has some Premium features and you’ll need a license to use them. If you wish to get a license please click here.

NEW : Password recovery option – If you protect a folder with password, Protect Folder will request you an email to recover you password in case you loose it (optional).

NEW : Choose working directory – It’s now possible to choose a working directory, this will have all the temporary files. Useful if you have low disk space and need to choose another location.

NEW : Protecting an empty folder – We don’t judge, so if you want to protect an empty folder, it’s up to you and it’s now available!

NEW : Cancel (un)Protection – Change your mind? It’s fine, you can now cancel it if you’re not too further in the protection operation.

NEW : Folder compression – Now Protect Folder will work quickly and compress the folder better, also you have more compression levels to choose from.

NEW : Big files support – The limitation for files smaller than 4GB was removed, now it’s possible to protect a folder with files bigger then 4GB.

NEW : Delete source folder – You can choose to delete source folder after a new protected folder is created (optional).

NEW : Avoid overwrite – Protect folder will now check for an already protected folder with the same name before proceed, if exists you’ll be warned.

NEW : License Shop – The option to buy a license in the application was removed, now you will be redirected to Gromicho AF Systems Shop.

NEW : Improved design – Protect Folder now looks ten times better and it has bigger buttons to help usage on touch devices.

NEW : Minimize it, it’s fine – Now the (un)locking progress will be shown in Windows task bar, this means you can minimize Protect Folder and do other stuff while keeping an eye on the progress.

NEW : Licensing system improved – The licensing system was completely redesigned and now you’ll have a much more smaller and user friendly license. This will also avoid typing and pasting mistakes when registering your Protect Folder version.

NEW : Hide password – In previous version of Protect Folder, when you checked the “show password” option, the password would remain visible until the end of the operation. Now as soon as you press the “Lock button” the password will be hidden again. So if you’re protecting a large folder you can just get away from  your computer knowing no one can see your password.

NEW : Send email when done – If you use this new option, Protect Folder will send you an email after protecting or unprotecting a folder.

NEW : Save settings to file – You can now save all Protect Folder settings to a file, so it will be completely portable.

NEW : Multi-Language – We reintroduced the multi-language feature. Please click here to see all available languages. If you want to make a translation to your language click here, you won’t regret.

FIXED: Better cleaning up – Sometimes Protect Folder would leave some temporary files behind..Now it won’t!

FIXED: Encryption state freeze – Now the application will never freeze again during encryption stage, avoiding the “not responding” state.

FIXED: Error handling – Protect Folder has a better error handling, including checking for paths too long that Windows can’t handle.

  • Unfortunately Protect Folder v3.0 can’t recover passwords from folders protected with previous versions of Protect Folder, this is because this is a new feature added to Protect Folder v3.0.
  • If you try to protect a folder with only a 0 byte file it will show the ErrorX25, this is not really important because if a file has 0 byte it means it has no information at all. However if you think this is important to you, just request this feature using the contact form or the comments bellow.
  • Using the TAB key with protect folder is not very user friendly due to some issues with the skin.

Most of you are already familiarized with Team Viewer that allow you to remote connect to your home computer from any location in the world where Internet access is available. For those who doesn’t know this great piece of software you really should give it a try.

Team Viewer is free for personal/non-commercial use, however, every time  that you end the connection in Team Viewer you will see a pop up reminding you that you are using a free version of TeamViewer like the one bellow:

We know this is very annoying, specially when you are accessing a non supervised PC and don’t want the pop up to be there left behind.. And that’s why Gromicho AF Systems created a simply Popup killer only to close that annoying window.

Keyboard and Mouse Cleaner

A couple days ago I went to clean my keyboard to remove dust, but my computer was turned on. Because i couldn’t shut it down, or don’t want to because i had some files and programs opened, i wasn’t able to clean the keyboard at that time, because if i did i would mess it up when i was pressing keys while cleaning…

To solve this issue i remember something, i remember to create the Keyboard and Mouse Cleaner software!

[Updated to v2.1]

Protect folder was updated to version 2.1. Were made some modifications in source code to fix some errors in licensing. The multi-language option was removed and some other minor details were changed as well. Download now Protect Folder 2.1 bellow!

UAC Trust Pal

UAC Trust Pal will be your best friend when you need to add applications which need administrator rights, to the Windows startup.

Since Windows Vista, Microsoft implemented the UAC (User Account Control) to protect users from malicious software, specially the ones which adds themselves to the Windows startup,  to be executed at Windows logon, like viruses.

However this type of  “extra” security doesn’t know 100% what kind of software is malicious and what isn’t, which is a problem. Some programs you use have the option to start with Windows to give you quick access to them, or simply to check for updates. If the UAC doesn’t trust those software it will block it at startup and you will see something like the image bellow (image from Windows Vista):

With Quick Run Adder it’s now very easy for everyone to add any program to Windows startup, but some might be blocked by UAC. That’s why now you have the UAC Trust Pal!

With UAC Trust Pal you can add any program to start at user logon bypassing UAC.

This is a simple Ping utility to check if some IP or website is “alive”.

This portable utility was made while i was testing my programming skills.

This version will be submitted to changes in a near future… This is not a final version. There are no agended updates to this application in the near future.

However it’s fully functional and running well without bugs.

Right Click Context Menu Adder

Right Click Context Menu Adder it’s a free and portable utility which allows you to add your favorite program shortcut, website link, file or folder shortcut in Windows 7 and Windows 8 Desktop context menu quickly and easily. You will not need to modify Windows Registry yourself, this software will do the job for you.

Following is an example of the output which you can get with the help of this awesome software:

 

As you can see in the above screenshot, we have added a link to Facebook.com and Microsoft Website. Also, we added a shortcut to My Pictures folder at My Documents, a shortcut do Solitaire Game, Windows Media Player and a link to Twitter homepage with the help of this freeware. This items were set to bottom position, however you can choose to show them at the top or middle in menu.

How to use it?

You just need to run this tool and select the desired item which you want to add in Desktop context menu. You can select any of
following items to add to context menu:

  • Program
  • Folder
  • Web Address
  • Any type of file
